Monjope's manor house

Monjope's manor house was an outstanding enterprise by Dr. José Mariano Carneiro da Cunha, a descendant of one of the most traditional families from Pernambuco. The history starts when the construction begins, in the Botanical Garden District, and ends when the manor house is demolished. The history of the Mariano Carneiro da Cunha family is narrated in paralel. This publication contains an interesting iconographic register of the manor house and the Carneiro da Cunha family.

Ornamental seeds of Brazil

We intend to publish a bilingual book (Portuguese/English) about Brazilian ornamental seeds and their use in the production of jewelry and costume jewelry in view of the current scarcity of information on the subject. The work will focus on the identification of the seeds, their history and how they are used. The publication will include ethnographic aspects of the native populations that have widely used this material for many years. It will also contain statements from researchers who currently study them. At first used exclusively by Indians, today ornamental seeds are increasingly seen in fashionable Brazilian and international collections of jewelry and costume jewelry. Employed in sophisticated creations by renowned designers, Brazilian ornamental seeds have been conquering the international market not only because of their beauty — but also because of their ecological appeal.
